For those who supported us the past two years at Fun and Fit as a Family at Parrot Jungle Island we would like to thank you for all the fun and excitement you brought!! We had a blast our first year 2009 making you scream and cry (like the double rainbow guy) for ”Famous Mousse” Parfait and Fruit Salad. Then last year 2010 we stepped the challenge up with our new golden voices (we lost them last year from screaming) to our Caribbean Chicken Wrap but you all made them like the foodies/chefs you were born to be.
This year we’re invited to head to the South Beach with all the top chefs of the Food Network! Come and join us at the Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival Grand Tasting 10th Anniversary. We will be the only organic food company serving you some great mouthwatering healthy dishes. You don’t want to miss this incredible event as we host another great OrganicTakeOver at the Grand Tasting!! See you there.

Today we would like to take a moment to give recognition to Youth L.E.A.D., a nonprofit organization, who is actively taking initiative for healthier lifestyles and sustainable behaviors. Their mission is to create environmentally just, sustainable, and healthy schools and communities in Miami-Dade County area. They actively do this by empowering young people to be the innovators and social change agents in their schools and communities. Through training, mentorship, and service learning projects, youth will develop the skills and opportunities necessary to diagnose and solve environmental and food justice problems.
Youth L.E.A.D. services include:
Workshops: Offers 2-hour and 4-hour workshops that introduce students to the concepts of food and environmental justice, expose them to local resources, and provide age-appropriate tips for improving health and conserving the environment.
Food Demonstrations: Youth participate in hands-on food preparation to learn 3 easy, eco-friendly recipes they can prepare at home with a focus on local, healthy foods.
Activist Academy: Participating youth meet biweekly afterschool or over the summer to learn how food and environmental justice issues impact them, their communities, and the world. The training provides youth an in-depth understanding of the issues as well as lifeskills, leadership, and advocacy skills to address these issues in their schools, at home, and in their communities. Graduates of this training then work with a mentor or partner organization to develop and implement their own service learning projects to address an identified food or enviornmental justice problem in their school or community. This intensive training includes food preparation workshops and field trips to local farms, community gardens, and partner organizations.
Eco-Assessment and Assistance: Youth L.E.A.D. experts can assist your school, organization, or home to “go green” by providing individualized assessments, tips, and assistance to lower your ecological footprint and save money.
We are truly honored to have a great organization like Youth L.E.A.D. in the community. They also help to bring awareness about food justice. One number one thing that Youth L.E.A.D. wants people everywhere to know is that access to healthy food is a right not a privilege!! Youth L.E.A.D. wants everyone to have equal access to healthy food, regardless of their income or where they live.
As we know obesity is at an all time high. Youth L.E.A.D. understands that by tackling the youth early they can at least influence their parents on making the change to a healthier lifestyle to prevent health issues like obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and cancers.
For More Information: Please visit Youth L.E.A.D. at www.youthleadmiami.org. Also while your visiting their site support the the cause by donating. Your donation will help get kitchen sets for food demonstrations or an Activist Academy scholarship.
We want to personally say, “Great work and keep up the good job!”
Food Network South Beach Food & Wine Festival 2010

Well this years Food Network South Beach Food & Wine Festival was another blast. This time around we weren’t on the Blue Cross Blue Shield Tour bus that rocked the festival last year, but instead we were under the biggest tent for this year’s festival shaking and opening the grounds of Parrot Jungle Island to the core of the Earth! The lines stretched to the point of no end with eager “VIF” (Very Important Foodies), moms, dads, aunts, uncles, cousins, and well you get the point. It was a family affair at “Fun & Fit as a Family”. Once our special guest “VIF” entered the tent it was all about healthy eating the fun way; with Be Organic of course. Your favorite “foodies” Roosevelt “Cancer” Desir, Kirk “Preventative” Nelson, and Andre “Diabetes” Walker introduced an after school meal that’s easy for kids of all ages to prepare all on their own. The best thing about this meal it’s all organic of course. The future “foodies” had a great time preparing a Caribbean Chicken Wrap. The wraps had the bright colors of the Caribbean with corn, tomatoes, raisins, lettuce, chicken, and orange and yellow carrots. Last, but not least they picked from our famous dressings: Pineapple Delight & Honey Mango. After taking a look at the beautiful color setup of the tables with each ingredients in the colorful bowls, everyone couldn’t help but put a little of everything into their wraps. There were three rules to our tent: 1st you have to have a great time 2nd make the best wrap 3rd contest to see which tables the loudest. With those three rules set everyone who came to our tent followed them and left as honorable official Be Organic “foodies”. The park was filled they kids and parents with face painting, eco green bags (our favorites), soccer balls, stickers, and many more. We want to give a special thanks to Blue Cross Blue Shield, 361 Experimental, and most of all our fans that came to support us on this journey to better health and living. Always remember “we dare you to step away from the crowd and Be Organic.”

Green Futures

The first Green Futures program was a success! The event was all about educating the children about the benefits on living and eating a healthier lifestyle. Through this the children transformed tin cans to beautiful artwork with their imagination. They then proceeded to place organic dirt in their astonishing tin cans to prepare them for growing.
We got our hands dirty with the children of Tallevast Community Center to plant the first “Organic Friendship Fence Garden.” The kids were delighted to see us return after the Organic Takeover Tour 2009 and work with them. To our surprise each one of them remembered our names and nicknames they gave us. The kids had us laughing, giving Kirk Nelson the nickname “Hot”, Roosevelt Desir “Big Head”, and Chad Cherry “Belly.” Working with this group of children we learned that, there are no seven wonders of the world in the eye’s of a child. There are seven million.
We want to give a special thank you to all of the sponsors and partners who made this possible.

The Tallevast Community Center was one of our stops on the Organic Takeover Tour. We wanted to come back to Tallevast and start our program here first after hearing of the contaminated ground water in the southern Manatee County community discovered in 2000, after Lockheed Martin purchased the former Loral American Beryllium Company site in 1996.
This will be the first garden Be Organic will help start and will have children decorate large tin cans as an art and crafts project, and then attach them to a fence that Action Fence Enterprises will be donating to the center. Children will fill the tins with organic dirt and plant organic seeds. The program will teach children many lessons such as working with their hands, building a strong community built garden, and even how to generate an income.
We want the children to grow up learning to take care of the Earth and themselves. We here at Be Organic are working with Tallevast Community Center to start one of the many programs which will lead the charge to get every community to take lead in the organic movement. If you are going to be in the Sarasota area please come out and support this will be open to the public.

Organic Takeover at the Florida Organic Growers Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainesville FL.

This past Sunday September 20 we had the opportunity to do an Organic Takeover at the Florida Organic Growers Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainesville FL. The crowd was very pleased with us making it to the garden. The only slight problem was we made it there right after bicycling over 40 miles and smelling like… well you get the picture or should we say the smell!!
The Gardens’ name is derived from its proximity to 250 acre Lake Kanapaha. The word Kanapaha is derived from the Timucua Indian words for “palmetto leaf” and “house.” Taken together, they refer to the thatched dwellings that were home to the original residents of a small Timucua village on the western shore of Lake Kanapaha. Between 1978 and 1987, the infrastructure and initial plantings were completed and Kanapaha Botanical Gardens was formally opened to the public on October 16, 1987.
For more information on this beautiful garden visit www.kanapaha.org.

Be Organic LLC
The American people always give a lot to other countries whenever there is need for help we are the first to reach out and lend a helping hand. Well right now America we need each other more than ever, with the fall of the financial system and the rising health issues we’re all facing. The path that is laid before us, if we do not stand up and do something about it America will be the one that other nations will be lending a helping hand. (If you are sitting in burning building are you going to sit in it while it burns!!) Poverty is real struggle if we don’t break free from those old ways of thinking this financial fire and health crisis is only going to be worse. For the past 3 years Four chefs have been throwing water for the at that flames, which are consuming us all!
Through our valiant effort Kirk Nelson, Chad Cherry, Roosevelt Desir and Andre Walker, are getting in to the community and educating them about the pro’s and con’s of eating organic food. We feel that it is our mission from God to spread this message so we are getting on Bicycles and riding 40 mile for 40 days to educate people about the organic lifestyle we all should be living, not just the rich and elite. On the tour it’s free for everyone to attend but to accomplish our goal of feeding and educating, we need your support. All we are asking for is a very small donation of 5 dollars either now if you have it or later through our online portion. And we only ask this if you really believe and support.
You must commit to something so magnificent that failure is Guaranteed unless you fully depend on GOD! Rev. Charles Taylor
